Hi guys! Great photos and the hike sounds amazing. I've been reading your blog to Grandpa when you post. Are you really looking for more ideas of where to go? Do you want me to do some checking? What about spending a little more time in Italy? Venice? Have you considered a trip to Spain - Seville or Barcelona? Take good care of each other. Miss you tons, but it is so much fun to see what you're doing and where you have been. Love you. xxxooo

AMAZING! We are all living vicariously through the two of you! What a great time you must be having. Savor every minute! (But we miss you too!) xoxo Carol

Head north to Venice! You can stop in on Munich or Vienna and then train to Prague before catching a flight back to Amsterdam. A little ambitious, but you only live once!

After Rome you've got two really great options: either go south to Naples. If it's orange season, you'll have the most beautiful blood oranges hanging everywhere (like within reach of your hotel room window), and you've got Pompei if you want to do some sightseeing (highly recommended).

Otherwise, skip Venice and get up to Florence. Worth every second...

Post Rome? you ask.

Tuscany and/or Florence.

In Tuscany - last Sunday in Aug - The Bravio delle Botti, which takes place on the last Sunday in August, is a barrel rolling race between the eight Contradas (divisions) of Montepulciano competing for a Palio, a painted cloth banner. The barrels (which weigh 80 kilos) have to be rolled up about 1800 meters along the main street of the town of Montepulciano to end in the Piazza Grande. Costume processions precede the competition and a street banquet follows.

In Florence, get a photo of David's most famous appendage - for Grandma.

Or Berlin - view the memorial where Grandpa nearly single handedly apprehended Hitler.

Have Fun - be careful.
